Thinking of adding a bit more drama to your life? Auditions for the upcoming production of “Sleepy Hollow” will be held on Tuesday, September 1, in the auditorium. According to drama director Mr. Randy Hanzen, Washington Irving’s spooky, yet lighthearted two-act play will be perfect for the upcoming Halloween season.

The major parts to be filled include three narrators, Ichabod Crane, Katrina Van Tassel, and Bram Bones. Several smaller parts exist, as well, including school children, Sleepy Hollow boys, and townsmen (and women). Additionally, students are needed to help with costuming and special effects.

“This production will be conducted in the ‘true Pope-ian tradition’ and all are wanted and welcome,” said Mr. Hanzen.

Scripts are available and can be picked up in the Little Theatre (C115), from Mr. Hanzen. Preparation for the audition is recommended.

Relief from the heat could be found in the RHS auditorium this summer. For three days in late June, Roosevelt theatre presented “Rumpelstiltskin.” According to director Mr. Randy Hanzen, it was one of the best summer productions on record for RHS, with much thanks going to the 35 onstage and offstage students who dedicated their time and talent to the play.

“With the calm atmosphere it was really fun, especially without the stress of the school year,” said Mr. Hanzen.

The play was created as a children’s show for the many daycares around this area, and sold about 1,000 tickets.
